10 years ago, the new team in charge of periodic shelter controls (CPA) took over, motivated (Plt Damien Thurre and Cap Frédéric Colleoni). Current legislation provides for the inspection of each shelter every ten years. So, it was this year that the circle came full circle.
The team changed considerably over time as older members left and younger recruits arrived. The common thread from 2015 to 2025 was the civil protection personnel’s determination to work carefully, comply with the regulations and meet shelter owners’ expectations.
Of the 282 shelters to be visited in 2025, almost all of the 135 appointments were made via the online platform. This observation reassures the management teams about the choice of this tool which greatly facilitates the achievement of the mission by offering increased flexibility to the population.
Some figures on this 2025 campaign:
- 123 compliant shelters
- 48 non-compliant shelters
- 111 shelters could not be inspected and will be scheduled again in 2026
This year, lieutenants Marvin Dunand and Bryan Li, working within the CPAs since the beginning, changed positions, becoming CPA Managers. 3 new group leaders were thus appointed to take over the roles left open.
The next step will take place next fall, when a potential successor to Abri 2000 – the management and monitoring tool – will be deployed at the cantonal level. CPA teams will then move to a dynamic, integrated and entirely digital tool. So to be continued.
