From Monday September 24 to Friday September 28, 2018, the Regional Civil Protection Organization (ORPC) of Valavran was engaged on five construction sites, located in the municipalities of Versoix, Genthod and Céligny.
Dog racing track
Nearly fifty civil protection personnel demolished the old structures of the Versoix dog track, which ceased its activity in 2016. Under the command of Jonathan Devaud, the exterior barriers as well as the decoy slide were dismantled using different tools. Among them: picks, shovels, jackhammers, generators. Other construction tools, such as mechanical excavators and caterpillars, were made available by resources outside Civil Protection. Note that the barracks, which will remain in place, were used as a canteen for the entire company and for the entire duration of the course.
Chemin Hubert-Saladin
Near Port-Choiseul, five civil protection members demolished two old garages on Chemin Hubert-Saladin. They also removed a fence around a small meadow. The work will ultimately allow the road to be completely rebuilt and widened. They used pickaxes, shovels and a cutting torch, among other tools.
Visit by the Secretary-General of Versoix
Mr. Frank Lavanchy, general secretary of the town of Versoix, visited civil protection personnel at the dog racing site on Friday, September 28. He thanked ORPC Valavran for its commitment and offered the croissants.
