04 Understand the mission
Act with technical means
Technical support intervenes when security, clearance or restoration work requires personnel, tools and long-term capacity. Its teams work independently or with firefighters, police and technical services.
Pioneers can clear access, shore up unstable elements, evacuate water, install emergency lighting or power supply and create temporary infrastructure. Their training also includes locating and rescuing people from rubble.
Prevent further damage
After the emergency phase, technical support contributes to measures that limit the worsening of damage and facilitate a return to normal. Some people follow a specialization for nuclear, biological or chemical events.
- Rescue in the rubble
- Securing and shoring
- Clearance and restoration
- Temporary technical infrastructures
A step-by-step technical intervention
Recognize and secure
Before starting work, the pioneers recognize the area, identify the dangers and define a work perimeter. They coordinate their actions with the intervention management and choose the means adapted to the mission.
Implement the means
Depending on the needs, the team can pump water, light an area, produce temporary electrical power, cut or move materials, consolidate an unstable element or clear a passage. Each task is organized to protect responders and avoid additional damage.
Submit and document
At the end of the work, the manager checks the result, reports any remaining risks and hands over the area to the competent partner. The equipment is then checked, cleaned and prepared for new engagement.
Useful capabilities over time
Technical support is designed to strengthen partners when the effort continues. He can set up relief teams, maintain temporary installations and participate in the restoration work following the emergency phase.
- Pioneering work and use of motorized tools
- Temporary lighting, energy and pumping
- Construction of access, protection or simple shelters
- Support for municipal services when returning to normal
Physical fitness, practicality and strict compliance with safety rules are essential. Manual professional skills are an asset, supplemented by civil protection training and exercises.
