03 Understand the mission
Preserve the witnesses of our history
The protection of cultural property prepares emergency measures for buildings, collections, archives and heritage objects. With the institutions concerned, it identifies priority goods, gathers useful documentation and defines the first measures to be taken.
Rescue plans prepared in advance allow you to act methodically in the event of a fire, flood, collapse or other disaster. They specify responsibilities, access routes, evacuation priorities and fallback locations.
Specialists alongside intervention forces
In the event of an event, PBC specialists advise the intervention management and collaborate with the firefighters as well as with the staff of the institutions. They contribute to the sorting, evacuation, stabilization and documentation of threatened assets.

Prepare the rescue before the disaster
Effective heritage protection begins well before the intervention. With the heads of an institution, specialists identify priority objects or sets, document their location and define actions compatible with their fragility. Access, fallback areas and necessary equipment are included in the emergency plan.
Immediately usable documentation
The intervention sheets must allow a team discovering the location to quickly understand the priorities. They bring together contacts, plans, particular dangers, handling instructions and possibilities for evacuation or protection on site.
Intervene without adding damage
Personal safety remains a priority. Once access is authorized by the intervention management, the PBC specialists advise the emergency services, organize the sorting and ensure the traceability of the objects moved. Depending on the disaster, the first measures may consist of protecting from water, stabilizing, packaging, labeling or transferring the goods to a safe area.
- Assess risks with intervention forces
- Apply the priorities defined with the institution
- Document each trip and each precautionary measure
- Prepare the handover of goods to conservation professionals
Network work
The PBC connects cultural institutions, municipalities, owners, rescue services and conservation specialists. Joint exercises allow plans to be tested and any necessary adaptations to be identified before an event occurs.
