Command support

Transform information from the field into a clear vision to coordinate the intervention.

01 Understand the mission

See, understand and transmit

Command support turns information from the field into a reliable picture of the situation. Before and during a deployment, its teams gather, verify and prioritise information, then pass it on to command and partner organisations.

They maintain the operations log, command maps, resource overviews and situation boards. This continuous work helps anticipate needs, document decisions and coordinate deployed resources.

Communications available at all times

Specialists prepare, operate and maintain means of communication, particularly radio networks and campaign links. They ensure that each partner receives the right information at the right time, even when usual infrastructure is disrupted.

  • Monitoring and representation of the situation
  • Operation of an information post
  • Writing and transmission of messages
  • Preparation of command posts

From the first signal to the report

Before deployment

The team prepares command facilities, checks communications links, gathers plans and keeps partners’ contact details up to date. Message templates, maps and resource lists allow operations to start quickly, even while the situation is still evolving.

During deployment

Each information received is dated, verified and reported. The intervention log keeps the chronology, the map gives a geographical reading of the event and the overview of resources shows which teams are available, engaged or to be relieved. The summaries prepared for command facilitate decisions and coordination.

After deployment

Documents are consolidated in order to keep track of decisions, prepare feedback and improve planning. The means of communication are checked and made available again.

Tools at the service of all partners

Command support works at the crossroads of the ORPC, municipal authorities, firefighters, police, health services and technical services. It does not replace their command: it provides them with a common situation, reliable connections and usable documentation.

  • Collect observations from the field and partners
  • Transform this data into maps, tables and situation reports
  • Transmit orders and messages accurately
  • Prepare handovers and keep the command post operating continuously
