What is it?

Shelter construction management measures are regulated by the “Instructions of the Federal Office for Civil Protection on the management of shelter construction and planning for the allocation of protected places to the population” of December 23, 2003.

The objective is to provide each resident with a fully valuable protected space near their home. Management measures must make it possible to identify gaps in protected places and reduce excess supply.

The inventory of protected places is carried out by considering assessment zones meeting specific criteria such as:

  • municipal boundaries
  • building areas
  • particularly threatened regions
  • topographical data (watercourses, height differences, forests, main roads and motorways, railway lines, industrial zones, etc.)

There are 4 types of management measures (MG1 to MG4 see description) which are visually represented by color codes (red, yellow, blue and green).

Management measures as of December 20, 2004

The management measures published on this site are provided without commitment from civil security and for purely informative purposes.
