Who can request a course postponement?
Anyone required to serve who has received a call-up for a refresher course may submit a written request to postpone the course to the authority responsible for the call-up. The request must state the reasons. No one is entitled to demand leave.
Students can also request a course dismissal but must complete a special form.
What is the deadline for submitting a service postponement request?
A request to postpone service must be submitted by the person called up as soon as they receive their call-up order. The complete, signed request, together with supporting documents, must be sent to ORPC Valavran by email or post as early as possible, and no later than 10 days before the start of service.
How do I request a course postponement?
Any request must be made in writing by the civil protection member concerned. No request made by a third party (employer for example) will be taken into account.
You can download the leave request form, print it, complete it and return it by postal mail.
Do not forget to attach supporting documents to your shipment.
You can also scan these duly completed and signed documents and send them to us by email to office@orpcvalavran.ch
What documents should be attached?
Requests for postponement of service must be motivated and supplemented by the required means of proof, namely:
- The employer’s certificate or, in the case of independent activity, the extract from the commercial register, etc.;
- The nominative and recent certificate from the school, the advanced training institute, etc.;
- The personal copy of the plane ticket, train ticket, etc. with the date of reservation or payment
It is not necessary to attach the summons or service booklet to the postponement request.

If your state of health does not allow you to enter duty, you must inform the ORPC by email immediately. In addition, you are required, within one week of notification of illness, to send the Office your service record and a recent medical certificate covering the period of service under closed cover.
