The mission was received on 03.03.2020 for a start on 09.03.2020.
It consisted of:
- Collect masks and hydroalcoholic gel from the HUG
- Deliver these pharmaceutical products to people quarantined by the cantonal doctor.
Entry into service at 1200 in Valavran. Monday to Friday. Meals served upon entry into service at Valavran.
In detail, ORPC Valavran received every day a list of quarantined people to whom it had to distribute PPE. Teams were distributed according to predefined geographic sectors. Everyone met at the HUG to receive the bulk material before distributing it to the vehicles. For health reasons, the teams wore gloves and masks during deliveries to individuals.
Care homes receiving direct deliveries
As the number of people in quarantine grew too large, the mission shifted to deliveries to care homes and other organisations throughout the canton. On several occasions, supplies had to be collected from Planzer’s distribution centre. For example, on 19.03.2020, ORPC Valavran delivered around 21,000 masks to eleven different organisations.
During this mission, the pressure on mask stocks was noted. Some EMS simply didn't have any left when we delivered them.
